The Semi Finals and Final take place today at Newport to determine the 2023 winner of the Wrekin Cup. Sir John Bayley take on Castlefields on the no.1 green by the club, while Battlefield play Woore on the no.2 green. Woore have played two former County Merit winners in Derek Wright and Wayne Rogers, as well as the very experienced Cedric Bancroft. Battlefield have stalwarts Kevin Perks and Mal Parry in their team, key players when they used to be in the Premier League. Castlefields include their own stalwart Barry Keep in their line up, while Mark Thomas and John Nash play for them in the Senior Citizens League, with Mark still currently playing in the Premier League. The Bayley will have the best green knowledge out of the four teams, and have Merit winner Keith Pessall in their line up as he looks to roll back the years.
There will be tea and coffee available as well as cakes and rolls. Parking is on the Cricket Club and on street, but please be mindful of neighbours!
