Woore won the Wrekin Cup for the first time after beating Castlefields in the final by 21. They led by 12 after the first three, Derek Wright winning down an edge with a good run at the end to win 13, while Wayne Rogers won 10, but Barry Keep got some good chalks from 18-3 down to keep the Fields in it. Michael Thomas won 14 to keep the deficit down. Woore were in control on the other green by the club, not letting any big leads build up for the Fields, and once Cedric Bancroft had a good run at the end of his game to win 12 it was all over. The other two games also finished 12 and cancelled each other out, with Carol Matthews winning for Woore and Shaun O’Sullivan for the Fields.
Well done to Woore on winning, and to Newport for hosting. Pictures are to follow.
