Shropshire start their 2023 Crosfield Cup campaign today with a game against local rivals North Midlands. It is a repeat of the 2017 Semi Final, and our second group game in 2018, games that North Midlands both won because of big home wins at Dunlop and Coundon respectively. However, they use Atherstone Cons this time round, while we turn to a reliable home green in Newport, a green we have used in our opening game the last three seasons with three wins. There are two debutants on Newport, the Wrockwardine Wood duo of Steve Broome and Dan Taylor, while Mike Gilpin makes his bow away from home. The other change sees our No.1 Callum Wraight come back into the side after missing out on the final last season from injury.
