The Senior County side lost out to Staffordshire in the Semi Final by 40 overall to exit the Crosfield Cup. A disastrous start at Meole Brace saw 4 losers in the first four, possibly the first time that may have happened, to trail by 32 there. The away team were doing much better, two winners in the front led by Jamie King’s 21-13 success to win him man of the match. The middle four at Meole saw two winners, Mike Gilpin the best 21-9, but only gained two chalks. Two winners away in the middle, Dan Taylor the best 11, kept the damage down to 8 there after four. The back four at Meole saw three winners, Mike Beer the best 14, but still saw a loss of 16 there. Just one winner in the back, Jack Hewitt 19, meant a loss of 24 there and 40 overall.
Good luck to Staffordshire in the final when they take on Derbyshire on Sunday 3rd September.
