Whitchurch A won the battle of Whitchurch sides in the 2023 Senior Inter League Final after beating their B side by 12 in the final. The winners were shared, but it was three big wins by the A side that was the difference, Cedric Bancroft the best of them 21-9 after being impressive all day. Joe Killen earned the “Malcolm Fletcher” Player of the Match trophy after winning 13 for the B side, but Tommy Lowndes was best winner 12.
Both teams won both their group games. The A side had the harder task though, defeating Mid Shropshire by 11 and Tanners by 8 in their two games, Gary Beff best winner first game 7 and Cedric Bancroft best winner second game 6, with Pete Grimston 21-2 and Ade Jennings 21-6 best for Mid Shropshire and Tanners respectively. The Mid Shropshire side defeated the Tanners team by 19, Chris Grocott best winner 7 for them and Steve Dance 9 best for the Tanners.
The other group saw 3 bigger wins in the group games. Whitchurch B beat the Premier League side by 39 as Tommy Lowndes ran out from 9 across to be best winner for them, with Josh Cotton best for the Prem 16. The Premier League defeated Market Drayton by 56, Chris Jones best winner 7 with Jan Wakefield the winner for Market Drayton 12. Whitchurch B then beat Market Drayton by 41, Robin Bennett and Chris Stretch best winners 8, and Josh Bailey best for Market Drayton 14.
