We have 16 players in the 2025 Midland Masters at Stretton Bowling Club in Burton-upon-Trent looking to bring the trophy back to Shropshire. Former winner Callum Wraight will be one of the favourites, and has Andrew Owen first up from the Potteries. Stuart Rutter is a former runner up and has Josh Blakey from North Midlands. Conor Chamberlain qualified through us, but given his main club is Stretton Anglesey, a stone throw away from Stretton, he will be expected to go far. He has Tom Hayward from Staffordshire first round. Tom Killen won the British Parks Merit on these greens, after beating Conor in the final, so knows how to win on them but has fellow young gun Louie Furniss in a tough opener. His brother Joe has a tough start against Elliot McGuinness, and our only woman qualifier Cheryl Caswell has a former winner in Kerry Morris. Ayden Smith probably has the toughest draw for us against Dan Petcher from Derbyshire who will be expected to go close. Ash Wellings won the Naz Worthington over the hedge at Stretton Anglesey, and will look to make it a double as he plays Warwick & Worcester’s Ian Hickey. Rich Lawson is a former County Merit and Handicap winner and takes on Matt Farmer from the host county. Gary Neal has junior Ronan Allen from North Midlands, while Sir John Bayley pair Josh Bradburn and Pete Grimston play Derbyshire’s Josh Furniss and Potteries’ Andy Ferris respectively. Mark Thomas will look to use all his experience against Dave Semper from Staffordshire. Liam Stevens has another home county player in Adrian Leeson, while Nick Wyer, who made his county debut for us this season, plays Staffordshire’s George Pearson. Tim Jordan takes on Dennis Lewis Open winner Jordie Baddeley.

Entry for non-officials and non-players is £2.00. This includes a program for the day and is to be taken on the gate. Please come with cash, as card payment cannot be taken on the gate, and access will not be allowed without a payment. Also food and raffle etc. will require cash on the day. The bar facilities can take card payments.
Parking is limited on the site and will be available for officials & those with disabled badges only. The club have arranged with the local school for all parking. People will be directed to this site from the club and there will be people from the bowls club at the school to ensure all park correctly. The school is approx. 2-5 minutes’ walk from the greens. So be prepared to either drop people at the gate or for this small walk and the time it takes.
