It will be an all Tanners Shropshire clash in the KGJ Shropshire Cup Final as Prince of Wales Hotel and Castlefields got through their respective Semi Finals. The Prince had a tough encounter against Sir John Bayley, resisting a late fightback to get through. Captain Danny Wornell said “it was a great game and close like I expected. It was a proper team performance and every single player played their part, even the players who didn’t actually play, great club spirit!” Best winner was Neil Lewis 10 with Aidy Ashley being best winner for the Bayley 21-8 in the back to threaten a fightback, but fell 5 chalks short. Castlefields had a more comfortable win of 42 over Shifnal. Skipper Graham Wall was “really pleased with the result, we established a good lead on the front which we maintained through the game. Having 3 single figure cards was the difference, we now look forward to another Shropshire Cup final.” Rhys Marshall and Kevin Walker were best of the 3 single figure winners 8, with Graham Turner best winner for Shifnal 11.
The final takes place on Saturday 6th August at 6.30 p.m. hopefully in the Shrewsbury area. A green will be announced this week.
