The Semi Finals of the KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup take place tonight at Chester Road as four teams look to seal a place in the final on Saturday 6th August. Former winners Prince of Wales Hotel take on Sir John Bayley on the ladies green. Prince captain Danny Wornell knows “it’s gonna be a hard game and I’ve had to make 3 changes from the Quarter final team. One bad score for either team could decide it, we have both got some good players so the draw could be key!” Bayley skipper James Blair says “we feel we have a very strong side even though a few regulars are not available due to holidays, injury and players progressing to the Premier team. Going to be a tough game but will give it our all.” The other sees Castlefields take on underdogs Shifnal, who defeated St Georges on the way to the Semis. Fields skipper Graham Wall says we are “Looking forward to the game against Shifnal, they are a largely unknown team to us so will be treating them as dangerous opposition. We have some experienced players who have been here before and hopefully will deliver on the semi final stage, it promises to be a good contest.” Shifnal captain Chris Newbrook acknowledges “we go into the unknown tomorrow, it’s a big game for our club, new territory and I think we are the underdogs. We are going into the game with confidence as you never know what will happen on the night, we are all looking forward to it to try and put Shifnal BC on the map.”
A reminder players need to have played 6 league games in leagues affiliated to SCGBA and no more than 4 Premier League games. Dress code applies (including tailored shorts).
