Four teams battle for two spots in the KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup as the Semi Finals take place tonight. Reigning holders Castlefields look to retain the title as they play Sir John Bayley at Wem USC. Bayley spokesman Rob Burroughs says “we are aware of how good a team Castlefields are and will have to be on top of our game to have a chance of winning. We’ve got a full strength team out and we will give it our all just like they will do. Looking forward to a good night of bowling.” Castlefields sit top of the Tanners League after having a great season so far, while the Bayley are struggling in 10th place of the Mid Shropshire League.
The other Semi sees two rivals meet as St Georges take on Wrockwardine Wood at Horsehay. St Georges captain Pete Gaut says “we’ve travelled a lot of miles to get to this point and tomorrow will be very tough against our local rivals. But we’ll give it our all and do our best to reach the final.” St Georges are currently top of the Mid Shropshire, while Wrockwardine Wood are 15 points behind with a game in hand.
There is no dress code and £10 needs to be paid to the host club by each team.
