KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup Quarter Final Review

Woore edged out previous winner Prince of Wales Hotel by 9 chalks at Bowring in the Quarter Finals of the KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup. Gary Beff was their best winner 3, while Mark Harris was best for Prince 13. Castlefields and Hodnet had just a close a game as the Fields won by 9 on Broseley. Captain Graham Wall says it was “a very close game which we were never in front till we won at the end and fair play to Hodnet playing their part in that. Lots of 21-19 and 21-20 results which shows how difficult the green was to play, 7 winners out of 10 was what got us over the line in the end. We know we need to improve going forward in what is a very strong semi final lineup.” Graham was himself best winner 11, with John Breeze best for Hodnet 10. Newport defeated Wrockwardine Wood by 46 at Albrighton, Alan Davidson best winner for them 7 and Phil Jones best for the Wrockites 9. Sinclair made it two Mid Shropshire teams through after they beat Battlefield by 30, led by Darren Fielding’s 2 win. Battlefield captain Harry Ryden was their best 21-7.
