There are 5 preliminary ties in the KGJ Shropshire Cup tonight. Former winners Castlefields play fellow Tanners Shropshire side Greenfields at Meole Brace with Greenfields the massive underdogs in that tie. Prince of Wales Hotel are another former winner and take on Sinclair up at Bridgwater. Captain Danny Wornell admits “we don’t really know much about them. We have got 2 B team players playing but they are good replacements, We are gonna try our best to win for my dad who’s in hospital fighting for his life.” Adderley will be one of the favourites for the competition but have a tough game against Bowring at Greenfields. Skipper Jack Hazeldine says “we are excited to get started playing in the Shropshire Cup. Many of our side have travelled quite a distance to travel so know very little about the green. We will be up for it and supportive around the green! I’m sure it will be well contested and an exciting game.” There is a clash of two Division Two sides in Bridgnorth and Meole Brace on Chester Road, while Division Two side Charlton play fellow Mid Shropshire side Trench looking to cause an upset. Captain Alan Pritchard says they are “looking forward to a good game and winning through to the next round. Edgmond green is a pleasure to play.”
