KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup Final 2022

We look back at last year’s final between Castlefields and Prince of Wales Hotel.

Castlefields produced an excellent comeback to win their second Shropshire Cup. The Prince of Wales Hotel flew out the blocks and led by 24 after four blocks off, Darren Powis best of their three winners 8. The middle four was shared but James Mammone’s 12 win meant the Fields cut the deficit to 20. The back four then produced an unbelievable performance to take all four games and turn the result into a 9 shot win. Spokesman Graham Wall commented” what a fantastic contest between 2 quality sides, commiserations to the Prince Hotel they had us in a mess being 20 up after 8, but we always remained confident our back 4 could deliver and so it transpired that way. A special mention to man of the match in my opinion James Mammone at number 8 who played brilliantly in his 1st final for us to swing the game and beat a player who is leading their aggregates. The back 4 were brilliant for us and secured us the win, as I say the match was a credit to the competition and look forward to many more battles.”
