Four clubs aim for a place in the KGJ Insurance County Cup Final on Saturday 10th August as they meet in the Semi Finals tonight at 6.30 p.m. Old rivals Castlefields and St Georges meet at Atcham with a big crowd expected to see both teams battle it out, neither have won this since 2019. St George’s captain Josh Bradburn is “looking forward to the game tonight, feeling good after a great team performance last night. It will be a tough game against great opposition but definitely feel like we have enough to win the game.” Castlefields also come off a good win this week and are in good form in the Premier League. The holders Sir John Bayley will be expected to progress past Wem USC given their good form so far this season, but vice-captain Tom Roden knows it could prove to be a tricky tie. “We have mixed form against Wem USC. Last year, they beat us on the final day of the season, nearly costing us the league title, they technically knocked us out of the Alan Mayhew Cup earlier this year, and only two weeks ago, we had one of our best performances of the season winning 15-1 at Wem. We won’t be taking anything for granted and look forward to a competitive cup match to book a place in the County Cup Final.” Wem haven’t been in a County Cup Final since 2007, and the team are looking forward to trying to reach it again. Captain Andy Marshall says “we are incredibly excited for what is our biggest game of the season and just reward for our performances in all competitions. We know only to well the challenge ahead of us against the best team in the county and we are looking forward to it.”
There is no dress code.
All players must have played at least six games in any league for the club.
