The KGJ County Cup Quarter Finals takes place today with all 8 teams from the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League.
Highley v Sir John Bayley at Wrockwardine Wood New Green
Highley will be looking to spring a shock, like last year against Wrockwardine Wood before being denied by an ineligible player, when they take on Sir John Bayley. Captain Reece Farr says “we go up against a tough Bayley side who are in great form at the minute, we know there going to be strong from 1-12, we are up for the task and hope to cause an upset!”
Hanwood v St Georges at Chester Road Ladies
Both teams finished top 6 in the league last season and it could be a close game to determine who goes through. Both teams have had up and down seasons so far, with some excellent results by both teams. Hanwood captain Rich Lawson knows it is “going to be a tough test for us against a very good St Georges side who I imagine will be on a bit of a high beating Castlefields on Friday. We will give it our all though as we always do and hopefully get a positive result.”
Wrockwardine Wood v Adderley at Old Shrewsbury No.1
Wrockwardine Wood have reached the final the last two seasons and will be favourites to progress to the Semis against Adderley, who have started to struggle in the league. Adders captain Jack Hazeldine admits they are the “underdog, outsider or any other similar words would be used to describe us tomorrow. We will however not be stopping until the race is run. We know it’s going to be a tough one and are ready for it!”
Castlefields v Ifton at St Georges Bottom Green
Both teams have had impressive starts to their league campaigns, and will be third time in as many years they have met in this competition. Ifton won on both occasions, Fields skipper Adie Rowe acknowledging “Ifton have knocked us out the last couple of years and we will be all out to put that right. We are fully aware that they will be strong and expect a very tough match. It will be competitive with I suspect a lot of shouting but they are a good bunch and we are looking forward to it.”
