Edgmond Open 2025 Review

Josh Cotton won his first major competition as he defeated Reece Farr 21-13 in the final. He was 7-3 down early on but got the block back and played over his favoured middle well as Reece lost his weight completely, with Josh winning 13. In the Semi Finals, both had great matches. Reece edged out Lee Brown 19, coming back from 10-0 down, while Josh edged out Dan Petcher 20, from 10-5 down. Full results are here.

Please find reports below from the earlier rounds. Quarter Finals: Lee Brown was 14-9 down to Adam Penlington but won 20. + Reece Farr was 10-9 down to Jamie King but then 14-11 ahead and won 13. Josh Cotton was 10-1 and 15-4 ahead of Scott Simpson and won 14. Dan Petcher was 9-3 up on Callum Wraight but then only 11-10 Round 2: Adam Penlington was 10-4 up on Mark Orme who got back to 15-14 behind. Adam then won 17. Lee Brown was 9-4 up on Rikki Higgs and kept this advantage to win 16. Reece Farr was 12-4 ahead of Jesse James and won 6. Jamie King was 14-4 up on Greg Smith who got back to 14 across. Jamie then won the block back and won 17. Josh Cotton went 12-3 ahead of Martin Simcock and then 19-6 and held off a fightback by Martin to win 16. Scott Simpson was only 11-10 up on Mark Parsons and won 10. Dan Petcher was only 6-5 up on Martin Gaut but then went 14-5 ahead and won 11. Callum Wraight went 11-3 up on Jack Desmond and from 15-12 ahead won 13. Round 1: Mark Orme was 11-2 up on Shaun Swinton and won 9. Adam Penlington was 12-11 down to Sam Millward and ran out. Rikki Higgs was 6-5 down to Dan Williams and won 9. Lee Brown was 10-8 down to Rhys Marshall and then won 12. Reece Farr was 11-10 down to Gareth Herbert but then went 18-14 up and won 16. Jamie King was 15-10 up to Joe Dicken but then 18-15 down. He got the block back and won 19. Greg Smith was 12-11 down to Gareth Davies but went 18-11 up and won 16. Martin Simcock was 8-3 up on Andy Armstrong but Andy got back to be 17-16 down. Martin then ran out. Josh Cotton raced 16-3 up on Elliot McGuinness and won 11. Mark Parsons went 14-1 up on John Phillips and won 12. Scott Simpson was 6-4 down to Chris Worthington then 16-6 up and won 11. Martin Gaut was 12-8 down to Matt Beeston but then 16-12 up. He went on to win 16. Dan Petcher was 11-5 and 18-8 ahead of Steve Pratt and won 15. Callum Wraight was 9-8 down to Jackie Rutter but then 16-13 up and won 14. Jack Desmond was 12-9 up on Stuart Rutter and ran out.
