The Semi Finals of the KGJ Insurance Cup has two previous winners left in as they meet two teams looking to win it for the first time. Castlefields are the record winners, winning in 2017, 2022 and 2023, and will face Mid Shropshire League leaders Sinclair at Prees New Green. Castlefields skipper Graham Wall is “looking forward to a tough game against a team top of thier league, not very often we start as underdogs so hopefully a tag we can rise to. Both teams have some great quality In them, so should make for a good game on a completely neutral green.” Newport won this in 2021 and take on a Woore side at Meole Brace number one green who bowed at out at this stage last year on best winner. Newport captain Mark Selley knows they are playing a “very good side and we need to be on our game!” Woore captain Dan Hand says “we come into this game against a side I personally know very well. I expect a tough game which will go right down to the wire but I believe this Rhino’s side can progress to the final.”
Both games start at 7. There is no dress code.
Players who have played more than 4 games In the Premier League are ineligible to play in the Semi Finals of the Shropshire Cup.
A player must have played at least six league games in the current season, for that club in one or a combination of leagues affiliated to the SCGBA, before the Semi Finals.
No players who have played for the senior county this or last season are eligible for the Shropshire Cup.
