Shropshire Crown Green Bowls Association

New President

Our President for 2025 is Simon Fullard of the NSCGBA.

Please find below the proposal speech by Roger Haynes of the NSCGBA.

On behalf of the NSCGBA I would like to propose Mr Simon Fullard for the post of President for 2025.

He is a staunch supporter of bowls in the County, especially keen to promote Junior bowling.  He has been selector for the Whitchurch League Junior inter league teams for a good number of years and also led the League Vets team to their first Inter League success at Wrockwardine Wood a couple of years ago.

He is a delegate to Shropshire for firstly the Whitchurch League, and latterly the North Shropshire CGBA always making a great contribution to County meetings, often being the voice of reason.

Simon has been a part of North Shropshire Parks since it was reformed in 2015 as Treasurer, and was President of the association last year.  He is and always has been an advocate of Junior bowling helping out on all Junior competitions around the county and country, managing teams and encouraging all to enjoy their bowling.

He currently holds the post of Secretary and Treasurer to the new joint administration for the Barlows & Market Drayton Senior Citizens Leagues which as the North Shropshire Veterans Crown Green Bowls Association has just completed its first successful year.

As Chairman of Tilstock Bowling & Tennis club for over 10 years he has guided the club to the sound footing it enjoys today.  Taking on the maintenance and upkeep of the green a few years ago he has produced a playing surface that is one of the best in the area.  He has made the club one of the most welcoming & friendly around.

I know he really enjoyed his visits to the away team matches played by our County Senior and Junior Teams last year and is looking forward to cheering them on at home matches this year and to visiting as many greens as possible when he isn’t bowling himself.

What Simon has done for bowls over the last ten years or so for Club, League, County Association amongst others he duly deserves the honour of being President in 2025.   I therefore have great pleasure in proposing him as President.
