Sir John Bayley retained the KGJ Insurance County Cup after beating Castlefields by 16 chalks. They made a good start with 3 out of of the first 4, Scott Simpson best winner 9 but Jon Palmer’s 5 win for the Fields kept them in it at 9 shots down. Despite Callum Wraight winning 13, the Bayley took the other three games, Spencer Clarke adding another 21-9 card to move them 29 shots up. Once Dave Lloyd came off winning 8 the game was over, despite the Fields taking the last three games, Ash Wellings the best of those 21-9.
Vice-captain Tom Roden said “firstly, thank you to all those involved from the County and Adderley BC. The green was in good condition and sharper than most would have expected. Obviously we’re over the moon to retain the County Cup and from 1 to 12 last night we battled for every shot, and we had to, because as expected, a very good Castlefields team were up for it from the off. This one’s gone our way and I’m sure we’ll be facing off against them again soon! Finally, I just want to thank our squad and supporters throughout this season, it’s been superb so far!”
