KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup Final Preview

There will be a new name on the KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup Final tonight as North Shropshire’s Bridgewater take on Mid Shropshire’s Hadley USC at Bicton at 6.30 p.m. Bridgewater have taken some good scalps on the way, including previous winners Prince of Wales Hotel and North Shropshire leading team Woore, while Hadley USC beat the previous two years’ winners Castlefields in the Semi Finals. Bridgewater captain Matt Blackhurst says “as a team we’ve always felt this is a competition we should do well in. Since I’ve been involved here we’ve progressed a long way both on and off of the Green. This Final marks another step in the right direction. We’re looking forward to the night, we’re expecting a really tough game on a Green we’ve never seen. Lets hope we’re the first North Shropshire side to get our name on the Trophy.” Opposition skipper Nick Wyer says “we go into this final full of confidence. We have picked our usual 10 players and we will give it a go. Looking at the draw it looks evenly matched and we know every shot will count, we will take nothing for granted and hope we perform on the night. As captain I’m confident my players will get the job done.”

There is quality on both sides, North Shropshire Parks player taking on former Staffordshire Merit Winner and County player Nick Wyer at number one could be a key game. Greg Fordham and Ash Gregory at number 5 is another key game with both players having plenty of experience on the big stage.
