The 1st round of the KGJ Insurance County Cup takes place tonight with three games involving all Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League teams. 2021 winners Wrockwardine Wood start their campaign against Meole Brace on Archibald Worthington. Meole captain Nick Davies says “we travel to Whitchurch to play our Premier League rivals Wrockwardine Wood in the County Cup. Although a few weeks ago they beat us at Meole in the league, the cup is a one off game on a neutral green. They are no doubt a talented team and it’s going to be very difficult to gain a place in the next round. But we have talent in our squad too, together with experience – and the team will relish the challenge in a bid to win the tie and progress further in the competition.” Horsehay play Bylet for the second time in 5 days on Donnington Wood which could be a close game given how close it was last Friday in the league. The other tie is a North Shropshire derby as Wem USC meet Adderley on Chester Road Ladies. Adderley skipper Gary Whitehall says “County Cup nights can be some of the best nights of the season and this will be no exception, two teams closely matched in the league and a local derby. Could go all the way this one!”
A reminder all clubs must pay £1 per player to the host club for cutting the green.
Also all players must have played one league game for their club before this round.
