Finals:
Dave Lloyd enjoyed the biggest day of his bowling career so far as he landed the 2022 Barlows Fire & Security Senior Merit. He got better as the day went on, beating Anthony Gray first game 18 in a close game, then Paul Williams 15 when leading most of the way. He then swept aside Rob Burroughs with a good run over the middle 8 before beating former winner Rich Goddard 13 in the Semi Final, having a strong end to the match. In the final he always led against 4 time winner Pete Farmer, going onto win 13 and get his hands on the Charles Beddard Trophy. Pete had beaten 3 time winner Callum Wraight 10 in his Semi Final in the corners to reach the final and go to the All England Finals in Cumbria along with Dave. The last time it was held in Cumbria Pete reached the final before losing out to the late Darren Smith.
Last year’s finalists Will Tarrell and Jack Hewitt join Dave and Pete in making the long trip to Hawcoat Park in Barrow in Furness on Saturday 30th July. But Dave will go on to play in the Champion of Champions on Saturday 24th September at Heaton Park in Greater Manchester.
Full scores are here. Thank you to Mike Beckett for putting these on.
Well done to Dave on his success today, and thank you to Sinclair for putting on a great day on a quickening green.
