Wrekin Cup Rules
- The competition shall be confined to teams whose club is affiliated to the SCGBA.
- The winning team will hold the “Wrekin Cup” and the consolation winners will hold the “Peter Morris Cars Shield” which must be returned by the AGM each year to the County Cup Committee.
- Clubs will receive an Invoice for the entry fee which will be £20.
- Players who are over 60 on 1st January of that year are eligible to play.
- All games to be played 21 up under B.C.G.B.A. rules and standard jacks to be used. The number of players in each team shall be six.
- The competition until the Semi Finals shall be 3 home 3 away. These can be played on the same or different days. The Semi Final and Final will be played at a neutral venue on the same day at a two green venue. The final will be played with 3 on each green. A toss of the coin will determine which green is played on first, unless both captains agree to play each green simultaneously.
- All rounds will be on dates within a four week window to play the game.
- A redraw for each round will take place within 3 days after previous round following the game or entry date by the sub-committee, which shall consist of five people a minimum of 3 people to make a decision who shall make draws and make decision as a team – no one person shall make a decision alone.
- The draw shall be made before each match by the rival captains, who will toss a coin to decided which team has odd or even numbers for first delivery of the jack. For the final each team needs to submit their playing order to bowlsresults.co.uk at least a week before the date of the final.
- a) Teams withdrawing within 24 hrs of their Wrekin Cup match must notify the competition committee, opposing teams and match venue. The withdrawing team will be liable to a £25 fine.
b) Any team not fulfilling a fixture or not turning up at any venue will be fined £30 and banned from the competition the following year. Fine will be split between the host club and the County.
c) Any player or supporter found to be consuming alcohol not purchased at a venue with licensed premises will be asked to leave immediately and liable to a £25 fine being imposed for each indiscretion. This fine will go to the host venue in way of compensation. d) Any fines to be paid within 14 days of being issued. A further £25 fine to be issued per week the fine is late. - The aggregate score shall decide the match. In the event of a tie in aggregate, the match shall be decided by firstly, the most number of individual wins per team and secondly, by each team’s best score in descending order. If the game is still tied after these criteria, clubs will be requested to replay, with the Cup Sub-Committee deciding the venue and date of such a replay.
- a) The winning team captain shall be responsible for completing the online result sheet and entering the result on the bowlsresults.co.uk no later than 10am the following day. Failure to do so will result in a fine of £5.
b) Both teams must retain the score cards for 7 days in case of a dispute.
c) Any dispute must be lodged within 48 hours of the match being played. - a) No player shall play on a green chosen for a cup tie in which he/she will take part for seven days prior to that cup tie. (League fixtures arranged before 1st May and County events accepted).
b) No player shall be allowed to play for more than one club in either competition.
c) A player must have played at least one league game in the current season, in a league affiliated to the SCGBA for that club before the first round.
d) A player must have played at least four league games in the current season, for that club in one or a combination of leagues affiliated to the SCGBA, before the Quarter Finals, six before the Semi Finals and eight before the Final. - BCGBA Dress code will apply for the Semi Final and Final.
- Any question arising not provided for in the foregoing rules shall be dealt with by the Management Committee whose decision shall be final.
