Referees Paper One Exam Date

Thank you to Press Relations Officer Malcolm Fletcher for the below article.

A seminar given by the biggest name in British bowls refereeing attracted a big turnout at a special event in Shropshire.

David Williams, the secretary of the British Referees Society, delivered the rules seminar to a packed house at Tilstock Bowling Club near Whitchurch.

And officers of the Shropshire Referees Society were delighted with the attendance, spokesman Phil Scott saying: “There were 40-plus Shropshire attendees.”

The free evening was open to potential referees and also club officials and team captains ahead of the new season, the ultimate goal being to encourage more bowlers to qualify as referees and officiate in the county.

To that end, Tilstock will be in the spotlight again later this month.

“The referees paper one exam will take place on Sunday, April 14, at Tilstock starting at 6pm,” explained Scott.

“Anyone wishing to take the exam must inform myself of their intention to sit it by Friday, April 12, please on 07946-478299.

“Any DBS checks will also be done this night for prospective applicants.”
