The Junior Trials are held at the start of each season, usually the second Sunday in April, for all junior players who wish to try and earn selection for the County Team for the forthcoming season.

2017 Details:

It was held at Severnside on Sunday 9th April at 10 a.m.

Report of 2016 Junior Trials:

We had 27 juniors turn up for the Junior trials held at Severnside on Sunday, 15 players who have played for the Junior County and 12 that haven’t. Coaching was given to some juniors and it was good to look at some of the newer juniors we haven’t seen before. It was a shame we didn’t have similar numbers to last year but Shropshire is in a transition period and are losing a large number each year.

We ran two comps, one for the senior players and one for the uncapped ones. It was ran in a round robin with two groups for each competition. The winner of the senior players was Liam Dovey of Burway, beating his older cousin Adam 19 in the final. In the junior final Lorna Parsons from Greenfields beat Prees’ Josh Warner 20 in another close final.

Report of 2015 Junior Trials:

A great turnout of 48 juniors came to the trials at the severnside complex where in teams of 4 they played a mini tournament of 8 ends against all the other teams in their section. Eventual winners were Monique Higgs District,Olivia Davenport, Adam Dovey Burway and Lorna Parsons Greenfields, who beat Callum Parsons Greenfields,Nathan Healey Hanmer, Mathew Farmer Child Ercall and Jack Shepherd/Matt Beck with a total score of 21-4. The selectors were very happy with the turnout which showed the level of interest in the juniors in the county, Planning for a further trials towards the end of the season will be done ,so watch this space! With Coaching also available on the day from the county coaches which quite a few juniors took advantage of a good day. Finally thanks to all the juniors and parents that attended.
