Junior Merit

The Junior Merit is for male and female players aged under 18 on the 1st January of that year. It has been played for since 1974 and is played for the R.G. Meyrick Trophy in honour of the late great Dick Meyrick.

Harry Church won his second consecutive Junior Merit at Whixall after edging out last year's Peter Ashton Youth Trophy winner Kieran Jones 21-20 in a thrilling final. Both players go through to the Junior Individual Merit finals at Netherseal on Saturday 18th August. Kieran had beaten Edward Proudlove 14 in the Semi Finals while Harry had defeated Harry Parsonage 4 as 28 entries took part, a big increase on last season.
