Today would have been the 2020 Shropshire Senior Merit Finals day. But on this day 5 years ago the finals did take place at Allscott. They were won by young gun Rob Roden with a great display of bowling that helped him beat two of the biggest names in our Merit. In the first round he had a tough game against his uncle Rich Lawson, which he edged out 20, before taking on two time winner Callum Wraight. He beat him 16, before defeating team mate and close friend Aaron King 17. In the Semi Finals, he got the better of Darren Wellings 18, before taking on four time winner Pete Farmer. Youth overcame experience as Rob beat him 18 to take the crown.
