KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup Quarter Final Review

Sir John Bayley beat Prees by 32 on Crescent

Sir John Bayley reached their first Shropshire Cup Semi Final as they beat Prees by 32 on Crescent. Skipper Craig Baugh said it was "another good team performance from 1-12 on a difficult Crescent green. Never really knew what to expect from Prees as we didn't know anything about them so couldn't take them lightly and after only being 6 up from the front the lads knew we had to put a shift in. On to the semi final now against St Georges and looking for another good cup night from my lads." Best winner for them was Dan Wilson 10, while Stuart Hodges was best for Prees 15.

St Georges beat Hadnall by 35 on Pontesbury Nags Head Green

St Georges ended Hadnall's fine run in the competition by winning by 35 at Pontesbury. Skipper Paul Beer commented "Firstly, I would like to thank Emlyn and his ground staff on the immaculate playing surface at Pontesbury, a pleasure to bowl. We had a good start with 3 out of the first 4 winning, Baz Gilder being best winner on the night 6 giving us a good start 15 up. We followed that up with 3 more winners in the middle which gave us a healthier 29 point lead. The back 4 did what they have been doing all season and closed the game off  with again 1 loser. A very solid performance by the team winning with an agg of 35. There was some really good bowling from both side in a very well-mannered and respectful game against two good sides. I wish Hadnall all the best in their quest to get promotion this year." Captain Graham Snelson was best winner for the village side 10.

Pontesbury beat Hadley USC by 5 on District Back Green

Pontesbury beat Hadley USC by 5 in a very close game at District. Hadley led after the first four with Steve Homer winning 6 to help them lead by 1. But two 9 cards in the middle by Kelly Price and Tony France meant Pontesbury led by 17, and once Anthony Price won 12 they were in the driving seat. Despite taking the other three winners, Hadley couldn't catch Pontesbury and the 2016 runners-up enter the Semi Finals.
