Spencer Clarke retained his title in a repeat of last year's final against Callum Wraight. He beat him 15 in a very similar score to last season, having another good run near the end of the match, and became the first player since Callum in 2012 to retain the title. Spencer had beaten Paul Williams 18 in the Semi Finals while Callum got past Stuart Rutter 6, with all four players going to the All England finals.
Callum in particular had been in great form. He had got past Will Tarrell 12, Charlie Weaver 11 and Scott Harries 9 to get to the Semi Finals. Spencer had also been in good form after an initial tough game against Mark Shore, trailing 5-0 early on and winning 16. He then beat Liam Stevens 11 and Graeme Wornell 8. Stuart had an early deficit against Ash Wellings but came back to lead 16-12 and although Ash got back to 16 across, Stuart ran out. Paul Williams and Gary Beff had a very close game throughout, with Paul edging out Gary 20 to earn that All England place.
Well done to Spencer on retaining his title, and to the other three players who earned an All England place on Saturday 27th July at Rolls Royce.
A big thank you to Tilstock to hosting, and the referees for the day.
