Seven more qualifiers have reached the finals of the Midland Masters on Sunday 15th September at Prees. At Monkmoor it was Welsh County player Andy Hughes from Malpas Sports who stole the headlines with impressive wins as he beat Liam Cruise-Taylor 13, Mike Beer 12 and Keith Wall 19. Ash Wellings continued his good start to the season as he beat Connor Whitehall 18 and Sam Cartwright 14, with Ade Jennings the other qualifier, defeating Dave Redge 19 and Paul Williams 15.
Over at Donnington Wood and three big names who have won plenty of competitions between them got through. Four time Merit winner Pete Farmer looks to win this for the first time and beat three youngsters to qualify, Phil Jones 17, Rob Fuller 13 and Tom Roden 17. Former finalist in this, Wayne Rogers, looks to go one better this year after beating Nick Wyer 13, Jolyon Partridge 18 and Dave Lloyd 11. Stuart Rutter was the other qualifier, getting past Chris Worthington 11, John Davies 12 and Roy Bradburn 18. That 18 for Roy earned him the 10th ticket to finals day as the highest scoring losing in a qualifier at District and Donnington Wood.
