Ifton win North Shropshire Derby, Highley beat Burway, no shocks elsewhereIfton won the North Shropshire derby in the Preliminary Round of the KGJ Insurance County Cup. They beat Hanmer by 47 overall to continue their good run in the competition. Captain Dickie Jones said he was "pleased to have come through a tricky tie. After the first four we were 2 up, after a clean sweep of the middle it was 19 and the back four kept it going for us to win comfortably by 47." Gary Wilkie was their best winner 7, while Mike Gilpin was best for the opposition 16. The South Shropshire derby was won by Highley who defeated Burway by 33. They were behind after the first four after Kiah Roberts won 7 but once Mark Jones won 6 for them they went ahead and never looked back. There were no shocks for Wrockwardine Wood or Chester Road. The Wrockites beat Battlefield by 107 with just Dave Beer winning for the Shrewsbury side 20, as Mark Picknell's 2 win was best for the Premier League side. Chester Road went even better and beat Hadnall by 115, but Hadnall did have two winners, Kerry Dance the best of them 21-6. The Premier League side had seven single figure winners, Ian MacDonald the best of them 2. Hadley USC beat fellow Mid Shropshire League side Madeley Cricket Club by 45 with Nick Mullinder their best winner 4. Les Mumford was the best of Madeley's three winner 12.
