Shropshire v Yorkshire Preview

Shropshire start their Crosfield Cup campaign against a familiar foe in Yorkshire as the new Selection team look for a positive start. We have gone back to a banker in Newport, last used in 2016 against the Potteries & District. The away side, so reliable in recent years, travel to Crosland Moor. The new selectors, Mark Shore, Keith Walton and Andy Smith have certainly changed things up with old selector Mick Jones. In have come Jon Palmer and Paul Evans, who have played for Warwick & Worcester and Staffordshire in the past, to make their Shropshire debuts. Pete Farmeris back in after a few years not playing, and Andy Moss is back in after not playing most of last season. Scott Harries gets his place back as well as Stuart Rutter and Clay Flattley in a team that shows seven changes from the last game of last season. Selector Mark Shore, who won't be at the game due to a previously booked holiday, says "disappointed I won't be there as I believe we have selected a great team and a good green choice to take on Yorkshire. As with any opening group game in the county championship it's a must win match and I have every confidence in the men we have selected. On paper the away side is one of the strongest teams I've seen littered with national title winners who could give any opposition a real headache. At home we have a tricky green which can help us secure the points we need to get over the line. I hope as many people can fill the coach and go to Yorkshire to support the away side and likewise the home team get the support it deserves." The SCGBA wishes the team all the best and urges everyone to go and support them at Newport where the action starts at 2. Live scores should be on here.
