Coors Meole Brace Open Days 3&4 Review

Shropshire had five qualifiers from this weekend's Coors Meole Brace Open qualifying. Clay Flattley of St Georges was the last qualifier of the competition as he beat Joe Tomkinson 8, Ian Smith 6 and Adam Walker 13. Dave Rhodes of Newport got through after defeating Steve Ellis 12 and Hanwood duo Ash Wellings 18 and Craig Wilson 17. There was better news for Hanwood though as Mark Shore qualified by defeating Tony Stevens 6, Kevin Nicholas 11 and Bob Hickman 19. New St Georges signing Martin Gaut got through after beating Castlefields' Tony Wall, Ivan Smout 15 and Mark Winnington 12. Hanwood's Colin Beaman was our only Saturday qualifier, the former homester getting past Prince Hotel's Nigel Ferrington 8, Steve Shaw 10 and Scott Harries of the Bylet 19. Other qualifiers include Gareth Coates who beat Paul Stretton 8, Kevan Shaw who defeated Darren Plenderleith 15, and Midland pair Nathan Dawes and Paul Evans who got past Greg Smith 13 and Paul Leah 16. Other Saturday qualifiers include Keith Williamson who beat Brian Smith 16, Lewis Belcher who defeated Steve Pratt 16 and John Dewey who got past Chester Road and Adderley's Chris Stretch 14. Onto Sunday and Lee Woodfield beat Wrockwardine Wood's Steve Downs 14 in the qualifier, Geraint Booth defeated Ian Formstone 8, Wayne Usher beat another Wrockwardine Wood player in Dan Taylor 9. But a Wrockwardine Wood player was successful as Steve Bodley had a fine 17 win over Tommy Johnstone in his qualifier to get through. Full results are here, along with the finals day draw.
