Coors Meole Brace Open Weekend 1 Report

Shropshire had five qualifiers in the Coors Meole Brace Open this weekend. Former winner Callum Wraight led the way as Castlefields led the way with three qualifiers. He beat Carl Doyle 8, Newport's Stuart Clee 16 and then whitewashed Tyler Dewis in the qualifier. Rich Goddard had three great scalps as he qualified, getting past James Bracken 17, Jack Dyson 18 and then Hanwood and former Meole player Wayne Phillips 9. Adam Jones continued his good early season form by qualifying for this in addition to the St Georges Open. He beat former Craven Arms player Craig Richardson 19, Tony Riley 12 and Kevin Handley 16. Newport captain Sam Millward qualified by beating Andrew Gallagher 17, Mark Taylor from Castlefields 11 and Kiah Roberts of Burway 19.  Our last qualifier was Adderley's Gary Whitehall who beat three County players to get through, Ben Gloag 8, Adam Kirby 15 and Steve Freer 15. We had some near misses too in the qualifier. Graham Dulson of Wem USC lost out 12 to Gary Owen, while Stuart Rutter of Wrockwardine Wood lost to Andy Thornton 13. Paul Williams from Castlefields dipped out 20 to Gareth Hughes, and Chester Road's Gary Beff lost to Daniel Nixon 12. Former All England winner Tom Vickers defeated Adam Dickerson 20 to qualify, while 2017 winner Ryan Prosser defeated former West Brom Open winner Ben Percival 18. Josh Mordue enjoyed a run to the Semi Finals of this before, and will look to go one better as he beat fellow Yorkshire player Ashley Tattersley 16. His other Yorkshire team mates Craig Gant and James Martin got through by beating former Sir John Bayley player Aaron Tapper 10 and former winner Andy Hughes 18 respectively. Matthew Allen qualified after beating Terry Brook 14, as well as John Jones who beat Daniel Jones 11. The full results and finals day draw is here.
