KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup Final Preview

Highley meet Prince of Wales Hotel tonight in the KGJ Insurance Shropshire Cup Final at Sir John Bayley starting at 6.30. Prince of Wales Hotel are looking to reclaim the trophy they won in 2016, while Highley are looking to win it for the first time. Both teams are doing well in their leagues, Highley are 3rd in the Mid Shropshire and Prince are 4th in the Tanners League, so both are in good form. Both teams met each other in the Semi Finals in 2016, with the Prince winning by 1 in a thriller, so it should be a very close game again! Highley captain Geoff Wylde is "looking forward to it. We had a great match with them last time we met and they are a good bunch. Fair green choice as we've only played it once as a team a couple of years ago. Should be a great game." There are some tasty looking ties in the draw, with former Isle of Man winner Tracy Ryan taking on the very experienced Andy James. Conrad Clapham has a lot of experience from his premier league days, and plays Staffordshire county player Ben Dixon. There are four more Staffordshire county players in the Highley team too, Dave East plays Prince captain Ian Smith, Darrell Handley takes on Nige Ferrington, Mark Jones plays Chris Jones and Stuart Gittings against Clair Barker. Ian Thompson was the hero in the Semi Final for Highley, and is at number 9 again this time looking to repeat that score against Ian Marshall. So get yourself down to Sir John Bayley to watch some quality action in what should be a great game. Not sure if there will be live scoring or not. If there is I will post a link later.
