There is a competition being held at Willenhall Nordley tomorrow in honour of Ryan Hyde who sadly passed away last year. 8 of our juniors take part along with 8 from Staffordshire, Warwick and Worcester and North Midlands and Shropshire, who all are in a FA Cup style draw done on the day. Our players taking part are 2017 Junior Merit finalists Harry Church from Sinclair and Susie Lawson from Bowring. Last year's Peter Ashton Trophy winner Kieran Jones from Llanymynech competes, along with Burway's Camilla Parsonage and Harry Parsonage, Matt Parry of Unison, Emma Massey Jones from Newport and Prince Hotel's Molly Harris.
Good luck to all of our 8 juniors taking part.
The story of Ryan is below as told by his mum Claire.
Ryan was a typical 11 year old boy who loved his sports but especially bowls, He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and playing computer games. In July 2016 Ryan left his primary school ready to enjoy the summer holidays before he started high school in the September, On 30th July he spent the day in Wrexham at the All England with his uncle and auntie cheering on the team and showing his love and appreciation for the game, but on 31st July after spending a day at the beach with his family. Ryan unexpectedly collapsed and sadly passed away, without warning and without any explanation.
We later discovered that Ryan had died from Anaphylactic shock caused by something he’d consumed, inhaled or came into contact with that fateful day. Anaphylaxis is an allergic reaction that can cause swelling of the airways and face and can usually be treatable, however in some cases such as Ryan’s is can be fatal. We as a family had never heard much about anaphylaxis just like many others but it’s far more common than we realise. This is why we are fundraising and holding this tournament in memory of our Ryan to help bring awareness and help other people and their families affected by Anaphylaxis.
