Llanymynech Open Finals Day Report

Colin Beaman won the inaugural 2018 Llanymynech Open by beating Dave Bond in the final 15. The new Hanwood man suffered a couple of scares along the way but after a pretty close start with Colin only 12-11 up after 18 ends, he scored four 2s to move 20-12 up, and closed it out 15 after Dave had got him in the corners. Colin had previously ran out from 19-14 down in the Semi Finals against Rich Lawson, and 19-13 down in the corners in his first round game against Chris Worthington. He had an easier time of it in the Quarter Finals by beating Nick Jones 11. Dave Bond beat homester James Candlin 12 in the Semi finals, after beating a luckless Ash Wellings in the corners in the Quarter Finals 12 after being 8-0 and 17-8 up. Dave had a scare in his Quarter Final after Ben Parkes got back to 19 from 19-11 down against him.
