Sport England Grant Equipment Arrived!

Our full order of bowls & practice jacks have arrived just in time for the new season. We were really lucky through the tenacious work of Malcom Fletcher of Mid Shrops League to get a Sports England grant of £7,145. After some great quotes were received we’ve ended up with 70 sets of bowls & 72 practice jacks, all stamped SCGB, as well as sundry other equipment: mats, long tapes, measures, hoops, targets, cones etc.

Brenda Slingo, Paul Taylor and Pauline Wilson show off the new equipment.

The after school club at Charlton, now in its third year, will have a set & use them at their Sunday evening open bowls sessions which the children from the after school club were starting to join. Saturday morning clubs already run at Shifnal & Sinclair. Using Shifnal’s school relationship as an example Bridgnorth will start a Saturday morning in May following a bump start with the local Primary school where they’ve finally managed to entice the 50 children of the schools Year 6 for 2 taster sessions. Other coaching sessions have already been booked this year with Malpas BC, Malpas Farmers, Chester Road & Highley . So hopefully the grant equipment will get a good outing this year If anyone wants to organise a coaching session or to borrow the equipment please contact Pauline Wilson porinkan@gmail.com  07746224824.
