Meole Brace Open Finals Day Preview

The Meole Brace Open reaches its conclusion tomorrow with a top quality 32 aiming to win the Doug Marrs Trophy and a ticket to the Champion of Champions. Shropshire has the 9 hopefuls in it, with only Callum Wraight of Castlefields a former winner. He faces Kevan Shaw 1st round, while Champion of Champion and team mate Mike Beer takes on Burway's Len Lewis. There are two more Fields players in the line up with former Senior Merit winner Glyn Herbert playing Adam Jackson and Mark Taylor playing Craig Gant. There are a couple more all Shropshire clashes with Bylet's Rob Fuller playing Mike Dulson of Wem USC and fellow young guns Sam Millward of Newport and Hanwood's Ash Wellings taking each other on. There are more young guns with Ryan Walters, who caused a couple of shocks when qualifying, playing James Martin and Jack Whitehead facing fellow Warwick and Worcester player James Seville. Former winner Andrew Hughes faces a tough test against Greg Smith, who will be eager to win this for the first time. The winner of that game will face just a tough a test next round with another former winner Graeme Wilson playing Tom Palmer. Former Isle of Man winner Leighton Roberts plays Kevin Handley. Gareth Coates won the Reg Miller Open last week and plays reigning All England Champion Darren Plenderleith in a cracking looking tie, while former Champion of Champion John Bailey plays Danny Barwise in another quality clash, and Aaron Tapper faces Carl Fielding in an all Midlands clash.  At the top of the draw Jamie Bramley takes on Glyn Storer while Keith Hatzer plays Andy Thornton in an all Northern clash.
