Ange wins Isle of Man

Ange Gaut won the Ladies Isle of Man September Festival main competition by edging a 21-20 thriller against Anita Richardson. Ange had to battle back from 20-17 down and had to show nerves of steel to win the competition and qualify for the Ladies Champion of Champions. It capped off a good week for the Ladies on the island, Julie Pearce reached the Semi Finals before being defeated by Ange 17, while Julie also lost to another Shropshire player in Alison Cotton in the Tourism event 21-20. Alison had beaten last year's Isle of Man Champion Tracy Ryan 18 in the Semis. Alison and Sally Clee also  reached the last 16 of the main event. For the men it wasn't quite so successful, only Jamie King winning an event in the Mixed Doubles with Sarah Fox. Allan Gaut enjoyed a fine win over home favourite John Kennish on his way to the last 16 of the main event, where Nige Bound also got to. SCGBA would like to congratulate Ange on her success as well as the other players who did Shropshire proud over the week.
