The 2nd KGJ Insurance County Cup Semi Final takes place at Sinclair tonight with holders Bowring looking to make their second final in as many years and St Georges their first since 2011. Both teams have plenty of experience at Sinclair this season but this rain may have made the green more holding than usual this season. Bowring won’t want to relinquish their crown without a fight. Captain Jamie King says “the lads are up for the game, but going to be a tough test! As the league points show there isn’t much between the sides but our form is good so we confident going into the game. We know St. Georges have some quality players that have a lot of experience so we need to be at the races. Hopefully the weather is good so there will be a good atmosphere and a few people watching!” St Georges will want a return to the glory years when they regularly won trophies, and despite their struggles in the league after signing a few players in the close season they know they have a good enough 12 to return to those days. Skipper Tony Rhodes knows there is “nothing to split the teams. This weeks shows us that. Comes down to who executes on the night and hopefully it will be us. I’ve got absolute faith in the lads!”
It promises to be a cracker of a cup tie at Sinclair from 6.30 p.m. so get on down to watch some quality bowls. There may be some live scores and videos and pictures from the tie on Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter. All details are under the Social Media tab below Home.
A player must have played at least six league games, for that club, in one or a combination of leagues affiliated to the SCGBA, before the Semi Finals.
Dress code will apply from the semi-finals onwards. The referee will decide which players are properly attired and permitted to play.
