The Shropshire Cup has reached the Semi Final stage with 4 teams wanting to book their place in the final on Saturday 5th August
Castlefields (7th in Tanners Shropshire) vs. Hadley USC (1st in Mid Shropshire) at Prees New Green
Mid Shropshire League Leaders Hadley USC take on mid table Castlefields from the Tanners Shropshire League at Prees. Hadley captain Jim Fletcher expects another “tough game as you would expect in the Semi Final” which Fields spokesman Tony Wall agrees with. “We are expecting a tough challenge as they are flying high in their respective league and have some quality players. We’re hoping our experienced players can produce their best and keep us in the game. All that said we got confidence that the underdogs can pull of a shock!” Castlefields did beat Mid Shropshire team Bylet comfortably in the last round while Hadley have had a tough run but beat holders Prince Hotel and rivals Wrockwardine Wood with ease.
Sinclair (10th in Mid Shropshire) vs. Telepost (1st in Tanners Shropshire) at Chester Road Ladies
Sinclair will aim to pull of a massive shock against Tanners Shropshire League leaders Telepost at Chester Road. They did last round however against Market Drayton League leaders Bridgewater so know what it takes to beat the big boys, and have had two good home wins recently to move them off the bottom of the table. They haven’t gone this far before since they were renamed so hope to make some history tomorrow. But Telepost are flying at the top of the Tanners Shropshire League and have eased past their opponents so far. Spokesman Rob Jones says “Sinclair had a great result in the last round so they will be full of confidence. Again we are on an unfamiliar green which will add to the challenge particularly if the weather doesn’t improve. We are really looking forward to this one.” Telepost fell at the Semi Final hurdle last season against Pontesbury so will be eager to go one better this year.
