Tanners Shropshire reclaim Veteran Inter League

The Tanners Shropshire League reclaimed the Veteran Inter League title by defeating hosts the Market Drayton League by 19 in the final. They were comfortable winners in the final after winning the first four games, led by Keith Owen’s 7 win, to lead by 22. Market Drayton fought back with three winners with Ian Foster the best 15, but Geoff Davies’ 12 win meant the Tanner Shropshire won the trophy for the third time. In the Semi Finals and the Tanners got past Shropshire Ladies by 14 with 6 winners despite Marg Fray’s 9 win, with Dave Beer and Phil Whatmough’s 11 wins being vital. In the other Semi and Market Drayton beat rivals the Whitchurch League comfortably by 37. Alan Faulkner the best of them winning 10.

Current holders Mid Shropshire League bowed out in the Group Stages after losing to Tanners Shropshire by 4 and Market Drayton by 37. The other group saw some close games with Whitchurch beating Market Drayton Seniors by 2, Wem beating the same team by 5 and the same score for Shropshire Ladies against the Wem League.
