Hadley in Telford Derby, Telepost meet Meole, Bridgewater fly North Shropshire flag
There are two derbies tomorrow in the quarter finals of the Shropshire Cup. Hadley meet Wrockwardine Wood in a Telford one over on the Premier Green at the Bowring with both teams flying high at the top end of the Mid Shropshire League. Hadley lead the league comfortably but captain Jim Fletcher is wary of his opponents. "We played them recently at home just edging them with 6 winners each so expecting another tough game." Opposition captain Allan Gaut is "looking forward to the game with Hadley. We had 6 winners there a couple of weeks ago and Bowring prem I think is a good venue where we both normally get 5 or 6 winners. Hadley will undoubtedly be favourites but if we can click on the night we can at least give them a good game. It's all on the night!" The Shrewsbury derby is between Telepost and Meole Brace over at Atcham. Telepost are top of the Tanners Shropshire league now with Meole sitting in 6th place. Telepost are at full strength despite Rob Jones being in Lanzarote! He says "this is a difficult game for us on a green we know absolutely nothing about. Meole will be up for this and have some very experienced players who we will have to be careful of. No game is easy at this stage and we will be taking nothing for granted. I am not sure if they will know much about the green either so it could be interesting. I will be waiting for updates while lying on my sunbed with a cold beer!" Telepost won at Meole Brace two weeks ago so will look to do a double over them while Meole look to get one back on them!
Castlefields are mid table in the Tanners Shropshire League and take on fellow mid table Mid Shropshire team Bylet at Chester Road Ladies. Bylet have done well away this season in the league and will hope to continue that in the cup, while Castlefields have struggled away recently with just 1 and 2 in their last two away games but have experience in their team. Bridgewater are the last North Shropshire team left in the competition, and face Mid Shropshire strugglers Sinclair. Sinclair have struggled near the bottom of the league so far but have enjoyed a good cup run beating Donnington Wood, Hodnet and Bayston Hill so far. They face Bridgewater who are top of the Market Drayton League and have a few ex Premier League players in their side to.
A reminder to all clubs that all players must have played 4 or more league games in or in a combination of leagues affiliated to the SCGBA.
