Shropshire take on Derbyshire looking to cement a place in the Semi Finals of the Endsleigh Senior County Championship. We have opened with two wins out of two but can’t afford to rest on our laurels as a defeat could open for the door for Derbyshire and Warwick and Worcester. This is why we have gone to Wem USC, selector Mick Jones explaining “We have gone for one of our banker greens in Wem USC because it is back in good condition and the lads play it alright.” On the position of the team he comments “we are pleased with where we are. We are in the driving seat in the group and now we have just got to do the business against Derbyshire, and there’s no reason we can’t.” There are two swaps between the teams, with Martin Lloyd and Andy Moss at home with Clay Flattley and Wayne Phillips going away. It turned to be an inspired choice as Clay has won the competition at the away venue at Washlands, so hopefully can lend advice to the others on the green. There is one change in personnel with Alex Jones coming in for Phil Emery who is unavailable. Mick explains “we have had a little shuffle of the players between the teams and Alex got lucky to regain a place as Alex is unavailable.”
