The final 16 of the 2016 Wrockwardine Wood Open commences at 11 a.m. on Sunday and there are seven Shropshire hopefuls in the field. Two of them clash first round as Glyn Picknell and Dave Rhodes collide in what promises to be a quality clash. Another two clash as well, and are both team mates of Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League winners Sir John Bayley, Paul Reeves and Tom Roden. Both enjoyed good form in the latter half of the season and this continued onto the Wrockwardine Wood green. Phil King was perhaps the shock qualifier of the field, he wasn't even in the original draw! The Hadley USC chairman takes on James Seville in his first game, with Jolyon Partridge of Burway playing Kevin Handley from Windmill. Mike Beer was runner up last year and will hope to go one better, but takes on a form man in Nick Wyer, who was best winner for Hadley USC in their Playoff defeat against Hanmer just over a month ago. Other first round ties sees Elliott McGuinness, impressive in qualifying, playing Kevin Hocknull while Adam Penlington and Darren Plenderleith promises to be a good encounter. Aimee Allcock could follow the steps of Lynn Pritchatt in becoming another female winner, but takes on bookies favourite Matt Fellows to start with.
The action starts at 11 with free entry and a programme and hot food available all day as well as the bar. A bookmaker will be in attendance with the odds below.
