It is just over two weeks to the first game of the Endsleigh Senior County Championship and Shropshire have a hard group in the Potteries, South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester this year. They take on Potteries first game and have chosen one of their new banker greens in Newport as their home venue. It is a similar team which beat Lancashire by 80 last season on there but the Potteries will be a tougher nut to crack. The Potteries are taking us to one of their banker greens in Birches Head Hotel so it will be a tough start for the Shropshire lads. There are four changes to the side which narrowly lost to Warwick and Worcester last season. In come Shropshire Premier League Averages Winner Rob Burroughs from Hadley USC for his debut, while Paul Williams of Castlefields, Derek Wright of Wem USC and Dave Rhodes of Newport all earn recalls into the team. Out has dropped Alan Palin and Gary Neal who are currently not playing, and Peter Grimston of St Georges and Castlefields' Andy Judson, who have moved onto reserve. Also new on reserve are Nige Evans of St Georges, Dave Lloyd from Bowring and Newport's Sam Millward, all players who have been picked in the alliance side a week on Sunday. Phil Emery of Newport is also on reserve after missing out in the Semi Final due to injury, as well as Jamie King from the Bowring.
It promises to be a cracking game and support at either venue will be much appreciated. There will also be live updates, details will be posted nearer the time.
